Midnight Journal: Practice of Mindfulness
Post 1 / 12 - Invisible Scars
Dear Friends,
Like midnight cravings, this is food for thought.
New US working time zone. I’m still adjusting.
Starting a monthly post for my readers 🌙
One post from Jayshetty on Instagram gave me a thought on controlling human reactions. This is about the Dartmouth Scar Experiment by Kleck & Strenta. Watch the video post below.
The Dartmouth Scar Experiment revealed something powerful: People felt judged and treated differently- even when the scar was removed. Nothing changed on their face. Only their belief did.
Lesson: The mind creates the scar before the world reacts. Self-perception shapes experience more than reality.
In my experience, I’ve rarely seen people express anger toward pandits, saints, or even individuals who are on a teerth yatra or returning from one. If we speak to everyone assuming they carry an invisible tilak on their forehead, our reactions might soften, and a lot of unnecessary anger could fade.

Do practice this with ordinary people day to day, and notice how things change significantly? Let me know your thoughts.

Nice...
