Continuing the Quest: An Eleventh Hour Tale
Bandipur - Part 2/3 (The Arrival of Shere Khan)
Approximately 4 kilometres away from our resort, we arrived at the starting point of the thrilling government safari. Divided into two separate safari groups with a total of 8 adventurers, we embarked on our tour promptly at 6:30 am, led by a knowledgeable guide at the front, eager to reveal the wonders of the wilderness. Before setting off, make sure to enjoy a cup of refreshing early-morning tea and check out the souvenir shop if it's open. The previous evening, while savouring a delicious dinner, I came across a captivating photo of a majestic tiger at the resort, sparking a strong desire to witness this magnificent creature up close. To my surprise, we encountered a variety of wildlife, from elephants and graceful deer to vibrant peacocks, mischievous mongooses, and playful langurs. Our expert driver, like a dedicated doctor treating a patient, was determined to show us the tiger. Following the trail of a freshly imprinted tiger paw, he communicated with his companions in the forest with the limited mobile network, hoping for a glimpse of the majestic creature. Patiently, we waited for the moment when we would come face to face with the tiger near the tranquil lake, surrounded by the elegant presence of elephants and the harmonious symphony of colourful birds that captivated our senses.
I believe that there is a great opportunity for technological advancement in the vicinity of the forest. The use of satellite imagery in monitoring animal movements in the forest could revolutionize conservation efforts and help protect endangered species. It would revolutionize the way the forest team responds to any potential damage, allowing them to take swift action. By tracking the movements of animals, researchers and forest teams could better understand their behaviour, habitat preferences, and potential threats they may face. This information could then be used to implement targeted conservation strategies and ensure the long-term survival of these animals.
Our plan for a short 2-hour forest adventure took an unexpected turn when we emerged from the forest right next to the highway. It was 8:10 AM and we couldn't help but discuss how luck seemed to be against us. As we journeyed forward, a safari in front of us beckoned us to witness a male tiger with its impressive size (calling him Shere Khan, a Jungle Book Character). We stood mesmerized, keeping a safe distance as we observed Shere Khan. His majestic presence and penetrating gaze exuded a profound wisdom that left us both spellbound and humbled.
As we observed Shere's elegant movements and his intense gaze locked onto us, I couldn't help but recall the same scene from last night. It reminded me of the wise words of Coelho, who famously said, "When you truly want something, the entire universe conspires to help you achieve it." Shere strolled, wandering along the trail, perhaps feeling a bit lazy since it was the weekend. He made his way to the lake to quench his thirst. Suddenly, we noticed several safari gathering at the spot as if a message had been sent to all of them, but unfortunately, our other group members missed out on witnessing this beauty. We were all filled with immense joy and contentment from this incredible adventure. As we started on our safari, it dropped us to our MC resort.
After a delightful light breakfast, we made our way back to the pool. To our surprise, a group of mischievous monkeys decided to join us and quench their thirst. We had to gather our belongings and relocate to our new accommodation at Chital Cottage. The cottage, adorned with deer wall paintings, maybe a bit aged, but it's secure and conveniently located for wildlife sightings. This cozy retreat is perfect for large families, as we quickly discovered we didn't have to reserve multiple rooms.
