A 3-Day Retreat at the World's Largest Meditation Centre
Heartfulness at Kanha Shanti Vanam (KSV)
My journey to Kanha Shanti Vanam (KSV) began with a train ride from Chennai to Kacheguda, followed by a local train to Timmapur (TMX) the nearest stop to KSV. Upon arrival at TMX, I was surprised to find no transport services available, but a kind stranger offered me a ride to the gate of KSV. I stayed at the East dorm, opting for a non-AC room and participating in retreat activities like heartful relaxation and meditation sessions led by Daaji. I had the opportunity to meet new individuals who had unique perspectives on yoga, meditation, and managing stress. Previously, my meditation technique involved concentrating on an external object, such as the sound "Ohm," for an extended period, typically around 20 to 30 minutes. However, during the retreat at Kanha Shanti Vanam (KSV), we were advised to begin by relaxing and directing our focus inward towards the divine light within us. We were instructed to take slow, deep breaths, expanding our bellies on inhalation and contracting them on exhalation. After approximately 30 minutes of meditation, we all felt significantly more relaxed. Initially, I struggled with internal restlessness, as my thoughts wandered and reminded me of pending tasks instead of focusing on my heart.
The 3-day Retreat was a truly memorable experience. The collective knowledge of so many brothers and sisters enriched each of us during our stay at KSV. The dedication of vibrant young individuals on the path of righteousness is truly inspiring. The lush greenery of KSV, with its countless trees, fills us with deep gratitude towards Mother Nature, providing us with fresh air to breathe and adorning our surroundings with a plethora of vibrant flowers. The delightful songs of birds create a soothing melody that resonates deeply within us. As we immerse ourselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of KSV, we are enveloped in a profound sense of peace and calmness.
